Our Founder, Our Inspiration
TRUDY HARSH, founder of TBF, a prominent Fairfax County real estate agent, made housing her passion. Her daughter’s brain surgery at age 8 left her impaired until her death in 2006. Trudy knew adults with brain disease would benefit from a 'home of their own’ and purchased her first house the year of Laura’s death.
Trudy’s extensive real estate and property manager experience serves the foundation well in selecting and maintaining properties and her years of service with mental health organizations brought understanding to the needs of those with brain disease. Motivated to make a lasting difference, she began the complex process of bringing together legal, financial, technical, and political expertise to support her vision. Her goal: to create a network of housing that would become self-sustaining and continue to grow over the years.
TBF partners with local organizations who help select tenants and provide support services. Our nine homes provide affordable housing and a supportive environment to 36 residents, far less than the cost of shelters, jails and hospitals. Trudy saw a need and she created a solution!
