Our Homes…

are named "Laura's House" in memory of Laura Harsh. Each home provides a safe and supportive environment for our residents who might not otherwise have the chance to live independently. They pay a minimal rent for a private room, and the homes are conveniently located within walking distance of public transportation and essential services, like grocery stores. Nearly all furnishings and decorations are generously donated. Each home has a House Representative who assures us that all appliances are working and the house is in good shape.

Our residents…

have an opportunity to live in a “home of their own”. Each house is designed to feel like home, where they can enjoy a sense of community among housemates. Our residents have the opportunity to receive personalized care, with access to their own psychiatrist and case worker to ensure their well-being and continued personal growth. Counselors are also available from our partnership organizations such as the Community Services Board, Pathway Homes, Hopeline Behavior Health (PRS) and Elwood. Applications for our homes may be obtained from these organizations.

Our Families…

are relieved of much of the emotional and financial burdens experienced while coping with the challenges of the brain disease of a family member. As parents age out, we offer hope for the entire family. Some families are able and gratefully willing to volunteer whenever possible.

Dave’s House near Orlando, Florida follows our model for independent living and we hope our approach can be adopted throughout other communities.
